MANUSCRIPT REVIEW

An honest assessment of your manuscript, and what to do about it.

A full review of the complete manuscript, turned into an ordered revision plan and a clear view of what the book needs before it goes anywhere near publication.
WHAT IT COSTS

£395. Any manuscript, any length.

The complete manuscript is analysed from first page to last, and you receive the full review, the ordered revision plan and the supporting material. Paid in full at the outset, and there is nothing further to pay unless you decide to go on. Once you have revised, a follow-up review of the same manuscript is £145.
WHAT IT COVERS

The whole manuscript, not a sample.

Editorial status and overview

A clear assessment of where the manuscript stands, its principal strengths and the issues affecting the book as a whole.

Structure and progression

Narrative or argument arc, organisation, pacing, progression and whether the ending fulfils the book’s promise.

Character, voice or authority

Character, viewpoint, dialogue and voice in fiction, or authority, clarity and reader trust in non-fiction.

Cover and illustration direction

Cover image suggestions drawn from the manuscript, and illustrator guidelines where the book needs them.

Copy-edit readiness

Whether the manuscript is sufficiently settled to move into copy-editing, with recurring line-level and presentation issues flagged.

Prioritised revision actions

The most important changes placed in a practical order, alongside the strengths that should be protected during revision.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE

A detailed review workspace, organised for revision.

You receive a structured Notion workspace containing the complete review and the specialist findings relevant to your manuscript, with 90 days' access and a PDF copy included.

A manuscript overview and the principal strengths to protect
Evidence-led findings drawn from the complete manuscript

INCLUDED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE

Publisher-grade material to build on.

A publisher-style review of the book, with quotable lines you can use in marketing
A full synopsis, written to professional submission standard
A draft back-cover synopsis, for you to make your own
A draft publisher's foreword positioning the book and its author, for you to make your own
CLEAR BOUNDARIES

What the Manuscript Review does not include.

Unless separately commissioned, the Manuscript Review is an assessment and revision guide. It does not include the following work.
Rewriting, copy-editing or proofreading the manuscript
Full fact-checking, specialist legal review or permissions work
Cover design, interior design or production of publication files
Metadata, category or keyword research, sales copy, launch strategy, campaign work or Amazon KDP publication
HOW IT WORKS

Four straightforward steps. You decide what happens next.

01

Tell us about the manuscript

Tell us about the book and who it is for. The review is judged against that reader, not against a generic idea of what a book should be.
02

Confirm the scope

We confirm that the manuscript is suitable for review, the agreed price and how to send it securely. Nothing is charged until you agree the scope in writing.
03

We review the complete manuscript

The reading and the analysis are done by AI, not by a person. A person directs the work, judges what comes back and decides what reaches you, and is named on your report.
04

Receive the report and decide

You receive the report, editorial position and revision priorities. The next step may be your own revision, specialist work or another agreed service. Nothing is automatic.
"The amount of feedback could initially feel daunting, but it was relevant, practical and consistently useful in helping authors strengthen and finalise their manuscripts. The turnaround was also quick, given the level of analysis involved."
Phil Stevens, former publisher at FDC Publications, who used the method behind this service across dozens of author titles
REQUEST A MANUSCRIPT REVIEW

Tell us about your manuscript.

We will confirm whether the service is suitable, the scope and how to send the manuscript securely.
Manuscript Review Request

This is a request, not a payment.

Nothing is charged and nothing is committed until we have agreed the scope with you in writing.

Manuscript Review is £395 for any manuscript, whatever its length. It is paid in full once the scope has been agreed in writing.

We use your details only to prepare and discuss your review, as set out in our privacy policy.
A sensible next step

Tell us where your book stands.

Not sure whether Manuscript Review is the right starting point? Tell us where your book stands and what you need help deciding. We will say plainly whether this service is appropriate.
Independent publishing, author controlled.
Practical, evidence-led support for complete manuscripts, book launches and already-published books. You keep control of the rights, accounts, files, readership and royalties.
